Walter Estever Gonzalez writes under the name W. E. Ticas.
Born in El Salvador and raised between two cultures, he is a Salvadoran-American writer and poet based in Long Island, New York. His work explores memory, war, displacement, identity, faith, and survival. Drawing upon personal experience, historical memory, and cultural heritage, his writing often examines the lasting impact of violence, migration, loss, and hope.
He is a member of the Voices Israel Group of Poets in English. His poetry, essays, and fiction have appeared in The Times of Israel, The Jewish Literary Journal, Dark Poets Club, Voices Israel publications, and the Voices in Verse 2026 anthology.
In addition to his literary work, he is the creator of Espectros de Medianoche, a storytelling project dedicated to folklore, mystery, history, and the supernatural. He also maintains Un Blog para el Alma, a Spanish-language blog featuring essays and reflections on culture, memory, and everyday life.
He currently lives in New York, where he continues to write poetry, essays, fiction, and longer book-length projects.
